This past Sunday we were blessed with a Missions Emphasis service. Two missionaries that our church helps support were with us for the morning. One, a missionary to Kenya, and the other, called to Croatia. Both men shared with us beautifully from the heart. I was inspired by each of them to pray more diligently and faithfully for our missionaries. John Lehn, missionary to Croatia, shared thoughts on the prayer Jesus prayed in John 17 -- four things to pray for our missionaries, our church and our families:
1) Give glory to God
2) That the Father guard and protect us from the evil one who tries to destroy us and our relationship with Him.
3) That we grow in our faith. Unbelief is sin. Pray for the raising up of leadership in the church, and that lack of faith never keep us from doing what God desires of us.
4) For unity
In missions work there are those who go and those who send.
Those who send should also be willing to go because Jesus commanded us to "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." We may not be called to a foreign country, but we must share the gospel.
Go into your world and take His love with you. Be an ambassador of Christ in every part of your life.

I read a blog the other day that challenged me to be more purposeful in my approach to missions. The writer wrote:
I have been praying for a cause.In the past I have done this type of praying. But in recent years I've been caught up in "life" to the point that I have lost sight of the call to missions. Jesus commanded us to "go in His name" and I'm pretty confident He meant all of us. So I am setting aside some specific energy and interest in my prayer time to ask God to enlarge my vision. I wonder what the world looks like through His eyes ...
Over the last year, I’ve been asking God to put something on my heart that was bigger than me. I had inklings that my life was pretty good, all things considered, and I wanted to do something outside of myself, my life, my little world.
